Maximized Pitching Lab began with a simple mission: to elevate pitchers to their fullest potential. Founded by Brett Huber, a former Ole Miss standout and Detroit Tigers draft pick, our journey started from a deep passion for the game and a desire to give back to the community where it all began.
Brett grew up in Belleville, IL, and made a name for himself at Ole Miss (2009-2013), earning accolades as a freshman All-American, All-SEC, and the all-time saves leader. After his professional career, Brett joined forces with industry leader Rick Strickland in St. Louis, where he gained invaluable experience and connected with innovators like Kyle Boddy from Driveline and Lantz Wheeler, creator of Core Velocity Belts. This foundation led him back to Ole Miss, where he spent two years (2016-2017) as part of the baseball coaching staff, further refining his coaching skills at the collegiate level.
These experiences inspired Brett to develop unique training programs, and in 2018, he returned to Southern Illinois to work with local athletes in Belleville, IL. What began as a local effort quickly expanded beyond the community, drawing pitchers from all over who wanted to elevate their game.
With a growing reputation and a dedicated staff—including directors Cole Milam, Erik Kaiser, and Mike Sabatino—Maximized Pitching Lab officially launched in 2021. By 2023, we moved to a state-of-the-art facility at the SportsBarn in Wood River, IL, solidifying our commitment to providing top-tier training in a professional environment.
To date, we have helped over 150 athletes continue their baseball journeys at the collegiate level, with 15 athletes drafted or signed as free agents. Our mission is to empower pitchers to achieve their maximum potential through cutting-edge training, advanced technology, and a staff with extensive experience and passion for the game.
I’ve been with MPL for over 5 years now and to look back and see how far I’ve come is the reason I keep coming to Maximized Pitching Lab. MPL has been one of my biggest keys to success because the guys in the building are very easy to work with and absolutely know what they are doing. Whether it is helping me with an adjustment in my lower body or just breaking down a pitch, they know what they are doing. Through the recruiting process, the guys at MPL were honest with me about certain schools and really helped me make an easy decision with Missouri State.
Brett at MPL has been my pitching coach for 10 years now and has helped me every step of my baseball journey. MPL has provided me with a ton of insight on mechanics: how my body moves, what makes it move this way, and the best way to optimize those movements to be consistent in game. When I was going through my recruiting process, the staff helped in a big way by getting my name out to the top SEC schools; while continuing to focus on developing me to become the best pitcher I could be. All of the work we put into my development was a big part in getting drafted. Without Brett and MPL I wouldn’t be in the place I am today.
MPL provided a program that was unlike any other one I’ve done. Usually I would be in large groups doing the same thing as everyone else, but not at MPL. Once I started staying consistent with my program, I really started to see a difference and began to excel on the mound. MPL was also a big help in my recruiting journey with how many people they know and are trusted by. If there was a college or anyone I wanted to talk to, they were able to help me get in contact. They give good advice on what to say and know how the process works. MPL has helped me become the best pitcher I can be to this point and I know that they will help me continue to get better.
